MEMBER REPRESENTING MBAITOLI/IKEDURU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY HIS EXCELLENCY HON. BETHEL NNAEMEKA AMADI INSPECTS THE FERMA REHABILITATION OF THE OWERRI-OKIGWE HIGHWAY
The member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru
Federal Constituency and President of Pan African Parliament, His Excellency
Rt. Hon Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi on Tuesday November 20, 2012 inspected the road
rehabilitation project of the damaged portions of the Owerri-Okigwe Highway.
It would be recalled that on Thursday
November 8, 2012 the House of Representatives passed a motion sponsored by Hon
Bethel Amadi mandating FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works to as a matter
of urgency, repair the damaged portion of the Owerri-Okigwe Federal Highway.
In moving the motion on the floor of the
House of Representatives H.E. Hon. Bethel Amadi expressed concern that the
deplorable state of this very important highway has been causing frequent road
accidents, which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties.
Following the inspection of the
rehabilitation work, Hon Amadi stated that he was delighted that FERMA had
heeded to his call on behalf of his constituents and the people of Imo State in
ensuring total and complete rehabilitation of this very important major
highway.
Noting the importance of this ever busy
highway which connects the capital city of Imo
State, Owerri, to other parts of Anambra, Enugu,
Ebonyi and Abia State, Hon Amadi applauded FERMA for the
speed with which this project is being executed especially with the approaching
yuletide period.
Hon Amadi is pleased with the current level
of restoration and rehabilitation of this road which prior to his intervention
was impassable and was causing untold and unprecedented hardship to road users
and commuters. He is further pleased that threat previously posed by the
deplorable condition of the road has been virtually eradicated with this
ongoing rehabilitation work and that commercial social and economic activities
of his constituents will no longer be negatively impacted as was the case prior
to his legislative motion.
Hon. Bethel Amadi was accompanied on the
inspection trip by some members of the Imo State Executive of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), including the State Secretary, Chief George Egu, and
the Publicity Secretary, Chief Blyden Amajirionwu.
