THREATENS FERMA OVER EKEMELE
The member representing Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal
Constituency in the House of Representatives and President of the Pan African
Parliament, His Excellency, Hon. Bethel Amadi has given a seven-day ultimatum
to the management of the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to
commence immediate rehabilitation of the Ekemele Akabor portion of the Owerri
- Okigwe Highway. Hon. Bethel Amadi gave
the ultimatum during an unscheduled site inspection of the damaged portion of
the highway on Monday October 29, 2012.
Hon. Bethel Amadi who was visibly disturbed by the level of
dilapidation of the road, described as callous and insensitive, the inability
of FERMA to commence work on the site as promised after his closed-door meeting
with the top management of FERMA in August, pointing out he will have no choice
but to drag FERMA management to the floor of the House to explain why the
management of the agency should not be sacked for gross incompetence.
In another development, Hon. Bethel Amadi has urged
contractors handling constituency projects in Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal
Constituency to ensure that the contracts are executed efficiently and timely.
Hon. Bethel Amadi gave the advice during site hand-over of the projects awarded
by the Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority in his constituency. The
projects include provision of hand pump borehole at Umueze Mbieri in Mbaitoli
and Avuvu in Ikeduru; solar powered borehole with overhead tank and
reticulation at Amaocha Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli and Afor Eziama in
Ikeduru as well as the rehabilitation of Atta – Umudim – Awka Ugiri Road. theSpeaking
during the site hand over, the traditional ruler of Amaocha Autonomous Community,
HRH Eze Prof. Barr. Ekwonwa, whose joy
knew no bounds, expressed the appreciation of his community to Hon. Bethel
Amadi for his forthrightness in fulfilling his election promises.
