Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi has called on African countries to take immediate steps to ensure the ratification, domestication and implementation of The African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance; The African Charter on Values and Principles of Public Service and Administration; and the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption. The member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency and President of Pan African Parliament, His Excellency Rt. Hon Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi on Tuesday November 20, 2012 inspected the road rehabilitation project of the damaged portions of the Owerri-Okigwe Highway. It would be recalled that on Thursday November 8, 2012 the House of Representatives passed a motion sponsored by Hon Bethel Amadi mandating FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works to as a matter of urgency, repair the damaged portion of the Owerri-Okigwe Federal Highway. In moving the motion on the floor of the House of Representatives H.E. Hon. Bethel Amadi expressed concern that the deplorable state of this very important highway has been causing frequent road accidents, which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties. On Saturday November 10, 2012, the Member representing Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Bethel Amadi hosted a Public Forum on the review of the Constitution at the Mbaitoli Local Government Council Field. The event which was chaired by Chief Uche Mbah, began with an opening prayer by the Bishop Chuka Ekeman, retired Prelate of the AME Zion Church, Nigeria. In attendance were the member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ndunagum, Chairman of Mbaitoli Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Peter Opara with other traditional rulers, Town Union Presidents and their executives, labour union leaders, representatives of the academic community, youth bodies and women organizations. REPS ADOPT HON. BETHEL AMADI’S MOTION FOR REPAIR OF EKEMELE JUNCTION OF OWERRI - OKIGWE HIGHWAY

The House of Representatives in its plenary session on Thursday November 8, 2012 adopted a motion sponsored by His Excellency Hon. Bethel N. Amadi, member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, calling on the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to as a matter of urgency, commence immediate rehabilitation of the damaged portions of the Owerri – Okigwe Highway. Moving the motion on the floor of the House, Hon. Bethel N. Amadi observed that Owerri Okigwe Federal Highway is an ever busy highway which connects the capital city of Imo State, Owerri, to other parts of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia State. Hon. Bethel Amadi noted that the Akabo Community portion of the Highway, especially, Ekemele Market junction of the Federal Highway has been badly damaged by erosion and heavy rainfall thereby creating big gullies on the road.
