PAP CONFERS AMBASSADORIAL STATUS ON BETHEL AMADI – EXPRESSES APPRECIATION TO NIGERIA The Pan African Parliament (PAP) at the 5 th day of the Sixth Ordinary Session of the Third Parliament approved a motion conferring Ambassadorial status on its outgoing President, His Excellency, Hon. Bethel Amadi. Moving the motion which was unanimously adopted after some amendments, its chief sponsor, Hon. Martin Bohue of Cote D’Ivoire recalled the remarkable contributions of Hon. Amadi towards the institutional development of PAP in his capacity as President. Continuing, Hon. Bohue appreciated Hon. Bethel Amadi’s wisdom, humility, availability, leadership and open mindedness as well as his quality as a negotiator and unifier. PAP PRESIDENT HON. BETHEL AMADI PRESENTS ACTIVITY REPORT TO THE PLENARY The second day of the Sixth Ordinary Session of the Third Parliament of the Pan African Parliament (PAP) witnessed the presentation of Activity Report of the Parliament by PAP’s President, His Excellency, Hon. Bethel Amadi. Presenting the report, Hon. Bethel Amadi highlighted the activities of the Parliament in the areas of Election Observer Missions, committee activities, regional and women caucuses, transformation of the Parliament, implementation of the approved structure, legislative business, administration and emerging issues in the execution of the Parliament’s mandate. KENYAN PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA ADDRESSES PAP: EXPRESSES OPTIMISM THAT AFRICA WILL OVERCOME HER CHALLENGES Kenyan President, His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed optimism that with the establishment of the Pan African Parliament,   Africans have taken their precept of unity to heart. Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the official opening of the Sixth Ordinary Session of the Third Parliament of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), President Kenyatta stated that   PAP was set up to ensure that the peoples of Africa were involved in the economic development   and integration of the continent. THE SIXTH ORDINARY SESSION OF THE THIRD PARLIAMENT OF THE PAN AFRICAN PARLIAMENT KICKS OFF The Sixth Ordinary Session of the Third Parliament of the Pan African Parliament (PAP) kicked off on Monday May 18, 2015 at Midrand, South Africa. In his welcome remarks, the President of the Parliament, His Excellency, Hon. Bethel Amadi stressed the need to develop a continental approach in addressing the problem of youth unemployment in Africa. Hon. Amadi stated that providing economic opportunities for African youths will greatly reduce the number of Africans who die while attempting to cross over to Europe through the Mediterranean Sea in search of greener pastures. Continuing, Hon. Amadi stressed the need for increased inter-African trade and economic integration as a better alternative than going cap in hand seeking for foreign aid with the attendant negative consequences.
